THE 4Ts CAMPAIGN – THE HURUMA CONCEPT.

The youth have a critical role to play in designing, planning and managing safer communities as they form an important resource for effective solutions.

Lack of proper infrastructure for sustainable development, economic and social injustices, opportunity and space for growth to explore innovativeness and creativity remain bottlenecks to sustainable urbanization and are viewed as a major compounding factor to Youth engagement in violence and crime.

The role of politics in slum development has negated any meaningful advancement, in the realization of the set targets of the Millennium Development Goals.

Our youth led organization is therefore planning a comprehensive 6 month program to address most of these deficiencies. The campaign aims to:

  1. Distinguish between political aggression and communal integration.
  2. Establish an enhanced and stable mutual co – existence.
  3. Provide a focal centre for progressive information dissemination and evaluation.
  4. Identify youth as positive and progressive agents of development oriented initiatives.
  5. Marshall Resources towards local empowerment to encourage innovation and creativity.

The 4Ts Campaign strategy of Tupatane, Tusemezane, Tuelewane, and Tuishi is designed to gradually integrate the community into owning and determining their own solutions to local challenges through partnerships for initiatives that champion the course of the youth with emphasis on past underlying and post election challenges.

Expected results include the Donate a job, create an opportunity program, launch of the slumtalk a talk show articulating issues affecting the informal settlements and creation of the Slum Assembly – an annual consultative conference of slum youth.

Major activities include a Music Concert to launch the campaign on April 26th 2008 and The Grand Slumfest on the 16th August 2008 to disseminate our programs.

To give the program credibility and worthiness we are seeking to partner with the Youth Affairs Ministry, UN Habitat, organizations and individuals that are part of the reconstruction process.

This therefore serves as a formal request as the role (advisory, monetary or as appropriate) you can play in ensuring our programs successful execution.

We look forward to hearing from you soonest.
